His grey beard is a tell tale of his wisdom, the old sailor in this painting knows the sea by heart. Waves shift motion in his wake with current moving tides. The artist illustrates how the old sailor always finds his way even when the sea is angry. He breathes in the strange sense of calm that the ocean waves carry and this painting transports that feeling into the beholder as well. His headscarf reveals his strong bond with his culture - the hint of a Palestinian keffiyeh on his head is enough for his comrades to recognize him on the sea.
